Spy Shots of Volkswagen Tiguan R Leaked. The new model of new Volkswagen Tiguan R is expected to make its official debut within this year. In terms of exterior design, the Volkswagen Tiguan R has a lot of new features, including an aggressive front bumper, larger cooling air intakes, quad exhaust tips, and an R badge on the side of the headlights. Both the Tiguan and Golf are built on the MQB platform. It is expected that the new model will directly adopt the powertrain of the Golf R, while featuring a taller SUV body with a larger trunk to accommodate more luggage.
On the powertrain front, it is widely believed that Volkswagen will transplant the 2.0T EA888 turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the Golf R into the Tiguan R. The unit is expected to deliver 333 horsepower, paired with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission and the 4Motion all-wheel drive system. Meanwhile, the rear-axle torque vectoring differential fitted on the Golf R is also expected to be carried over to the Tiguan R.
