
The Volkswagen ID. ERA 5S is set to kick off pre-sales on August 11. It is the brand’s first mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan equipped with urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) functionality.
In terms of exterior design, the new model features a full-width daytime running light bar at the front fascia, with an illuminated central brand logo. Its split headlight assembly is seamlessly integrated with the front bumper. The vehicle adopts a sleek coupe silhouette. Dimensionally, it measures 4836mm in length, 1880mm in width and 1505mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2766mm. It comes with semi-flush door handles and large multi-spoke alloy wheels. The rear end is fitted with full-width taillights that echo the front styling, paired with a luminous brand emblem.
For intelligent driving assistance, the sedan is equipped with a high-level intelligent driver assistance system, supporting highway NOA, urban NOA, automatic parking, valet parking, remote parking and trace reverse function. It is the first Volkswagen sedan globally with urban NOA capability.
On the powertrain front, the car runs on a plug-in hybrid system combining a 1.5L engine and an electric motor. The engine delivers a maximum output of 80kW, while the electric motor reaches a peak power of 130kW. It boasts a WLTC-rated pure electric range of 120km, a combined range of over 2000km, and a battery-depleted fuel consumption of 2.82L per 100km.
