Audi has officially released road test footage of the A2 e-tron, showing the vehicle being tested in mountainous areas, snowy conditions, and wind tunnels. The new entry-level electric model is set to make its official debut this fall, with production starting first at Audi's headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany. Replacing both the A1 and Q2 models, the Audi A2 e-tron will offer young consumers a more affordable electric option from the brand.
Combined with previously obtained spy shots, the new A2 e-tron features Audi's latest family design language both inside and out. At the front, it retains the iconic large grille and uses split headlights: slim daytime running lights on top, with separate LED headlight units below. At the rear, it has a full-width taillight bar paired with a roof spoiler, which further enhances the car's sporty look.
Inside, the A2 e-tron's instrument cluster and central touchscreen follow the design of the new Q5 and A6 models, but it does not come with a passenger-side entertainment screen. The steering wheel also adopts Audi's new-generation family design, with physical buttons kept in the multifunction area. In addition, the car uses a column-mounted gear shifter to free up more space in the center console.
