Official spy shots of the all-new BMW X5 M60 test vehicle have been unveiled, with the new model set to come equipped with a mild-hybrid system pairing a 4.4T V8 engine and a 48V electric motor. It is reported that production of the all-new BMW X5/iX5 will get underway in August and the models will make their official debut within the year, while the new BMW X5 M60 is scheduled to start production in March 2027.
As seen from the spy shots, the new model will adopt BMW’s latest family design language, consistent with the all-new BMW X5/iX5. That said, the exact look of its front end fitted with the M Performance sports kit remains unclear for now, given the test vehicle is still fully covered in camouflage wrap.
In terms of powertrain, the new model will be powered by a mild-hybrid system comprising the S68 4.4T twin-turbo V8 engine and a 48V ISG motor. This engine is already employed in a plug-in hybrid configuration with an electric motor in the BMW M5, delivering a maximum power of 430kW and a projected peak torque of 750 N·m.
