The new model will make its global debut at the 2026 Chengdu Motor Show. Positioned as the flagship SUV of BYD's Ocean Network, it is available in both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and all-electric (BEV) powertrain variants. The all-electric version delivers a maximum CLTC cruising range of up to 900 km.
The Sea Lion 08 features smooth, rounded side lines, with a flowing waistline running from the front to the rear, paired with semi-flush door handles. The rear end is fitted with a full-width taillight assembly, echoing the design of the daytime running lights at the front. In terms of dimensions, the new vehicle measures 5115 mm in length, 1999 mm in width and 1800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3030 mm.
The all-electric lineup comes with three powertrain configurations: two single-motor versions and one dual-motor version. The single-motor variants deliver a maximum power output of 320 kW and 370 kW respectively, while the dual-motor variant has a peak power of 215 kW for the front motor and 370 kW for the rear motor. Two battery options with capacities of 92.093 kWh and 115.072 kWh are offered for the all-electric models, supporting CLTC ranges of 710 km, 800 km and 900 km respectively.
