The new model is expected to officially launch within this year. It will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system, and will go head-to-head with plug-in hybrid sedans including the BYD Qin PLUS DM-i.
According to the spy shots, the new vehicle is still in the early stages of testing. However, judging by the contour of its light clusters and the styling of its front and rear bumpers, it bears a strong resemblance to the Fengyun A9. The only difference is that the test mule adopts a traditional door handle design. It is speculated that the model will share a platform with the all-new Arrizo 7, with the two targeting the fuel-powered and plug-in hybrid sedan markets respectively. In addition, while the test vehicle is not fitted with LiDAR, it is expected that a variant equipped with LiDAR and the J6M chip will be available in the future, to further popularize intelligent driving assistance.
The new model will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. With reference to the Fengyun A8, it will adopt a combination of a 1.5L engine and an electric motor, where the engine delivers a maximum power of 75kW and the electric motor has a maximum output of 150kW. It will be offered with two battery packs of different capacities, delivering a CLTC pure electric range of 70km and 145km respectively. It is also worth noting that the new vehicle will come with a rear torsion beam suspension setup.
