According to newly leaked details, the upcoming model will be positioned as the SUV variant of the MG4, and is expected to be built on a shared production platform. Larger in overall dimensions than the MG4, it will fall firmly into the compact SUV segment, and will feature an all-electric powertrain.
As seen in the spy shots, the new vehicle carries over MG’s family design language, retaining the MG4’s signature illuminated logo and sharp-styled headlamps. A new full-width light strip has been added to the front fascia, further enriching visual depth and boosting the model’s on-road recognizability. Notably, the vehicle is not equipped with hidden door handles; instead, it features conventional non-hidden mechanical door handles to comply with the requirements of China’s new national standards.
In line with the brand’s previous product roadmap, the all-new MG SUV is expected to offer technologies and features including semi-solid-state batteries and OPPO smartphone-vehicle interconnectivity. It will also replicate the MG4’s successful formula of budget-friendly pricing and class-above experience to deliver outstanding value for money, as it looks to challenge the compact all-electric SUV market with its robust technological capabilities. The launch of the new model will further expand MG’s all-electric product lineup, extending the brand’s reach from the hatchback segment into the SUV market, as it continues to advance its product strategy built around technological democratization.
As of now, MG has not yet released any official information on this all-new SUV model, with key details including official pricing, specification parameters, and driving range performance still awaiting a formal announcement.
