On April 9th, the BYD Tang L was officially launched, with a total of six models available, priced between 229,800 and 289,800 yuan. The Tang L is built on BYD's latest super e-platform, capable of achieving a 1000V high-voltage platform, 1000kW ultra-fast charging power, 400km of range in just 5 minutes of charging, and a maximum motor speed of 30,511 rpm, with a single motor delivering up to 580 kW of power. Positioned as a mid-to-large SUV, the plug-in hybrid versions of the Tang L feature the 5th generation DM technology, equipped with DiDyna intelligent chassis and advanced driving assistance system known as "Heavenly Eye B."
In terms of design, the Tang L adopts the latest "Loong Face" design language, with the Tang L DM-i, Tang L DM-p, and Tang L EV all sharing the same exterior and interior designs. The new model comes with split headlights, where the upper daytime running lights merge seamlessly with the chrome trim, giving it a more futuristic look. The lower headlight assembly blends well with the air intake, featuring blacked-out headlights that are not too conspicuous, and an active grille on the lower bumper. The roof of the car is also fitted with a LiDAR.
Regarding dimensions, the Tang L measures 5040/1996/1760mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2950mm. Compared to the previous Tang, the new model has increased by 140mm in length, 46mm in width, 35mm in height, and 130mm in wheelbase. On the side, the front doors feature aerodynamic channels for a sportier look, complemented by hidden door handles that enhance the futuristic aesthetic. The 20-inch low-drag wheels add to its dynamic appearance, resulting in a final drag coefficient of just 0.262.
